a journey of 2,652 miles
THE PACIFIC CREST TRAIL 2018
starts with a single step.
Miles 906.6 to 918.1. Red‘s Meadow Campground to rock camp.
Alright, let‘s do this, our last stretch before going home. We are not very eager to get going, the weather is not very nice, it‘s actually quite cool and it doesn‘t feel great to leave a place with a restaurant. So why not have breakfast there first? A milkshake, eggs over easy with hashbrowns & toast and coffee later we finally manage to leave with Pitroast and BigBro. But the hiking is hard. It‘s not fun. We can hardly make miles. We actually just wish we would already be on our way to San Francisco. I really wonder if our mindset would be different if we didn‘t go home next week. But BigBro and Pitroast feel the same, they can hardly move and are not at all motivated. It is now raining a little, which doesn‘t help our morale. This actually really sucks! The rain gets harder, we are soaking wet because we didn’t bother putting our rain gear on hoping it would stop soon. It is 4pm now and we decide to call it a day. We camp next to BigBro, it would be a super nice camp site on flat rocks right next to a really nice view, but right now everything just looks grey. Like our mood. We quickly set up camp, and Dario and BigBro walk off in search of water and only return after 15 minutes. Poor guys! Meanwhile I got the tent ready and when Dario joins we prepare dinner and then - yay - realize that we have AT&T service. And since we only need our fully charged powerbanks for 2.5 days we treat ourselves to a couple episodes of „Friends“. Always a mood booster! BigBro also watches a movie in his tent and so we all spend a relaxing evening in our mobile homes while the rain pours down incessantly. Kinda cozy. :)
